Scott Rudin is an American film, television, and theatre producer. His films include the Academy Award-winning Best Picture No Country for Old Men, as well as Uncut GemsLady Bird, Fences, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Social Network, School of Rock, Zoolander, The Truman Show, Clueless, The Addams Family, and eight Wes Anderson films. On Broadway, he has won 17 Tony Awards for shows such as The Book of Mormon, Hello, Dolly!The Humans, A View from the Bridge, Fences, and Passion.

Early Life

Scott Rudin produced his first film, I’m Dancing as Fast as I Can, in 1982 and has since produced or executive produced dozens of films for studios including 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, Disney, and A24. Some of his more notable films include The Addams Family (1991), Sleepy Hollow (1999), The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), No Country for Old Men (2007), There Will Be Blood (2007), The Social Network (2010), and Moneyball (2011). Scott Rudin’s most recent productions include The Woman in the Window (2021), Uncut Gems (2019), and Mid90s (2018). Ten of his films have garnered Best Picture nominations at the Academy Awards, with No Country for Old Men winning.

Rudin won the Best Musical Tony Award

Concurrent to his work as a film producer, Rudin has produced dozens of stage productions since his first Broadway play, Face Value, in 1993. He typically produces at least two stage plays per year and has won 18 Tony Awards for productions such as Passion (1994), Copenhagen (2000), The History Boys (2006), Fences (2010), The Book of Mormon (2011), and Death of a Salesman (2012). He is among the most commercially successful producers in Broadway history.

In addition to the aforementioned awards, Rudin won the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album for The Book of Mormon (2011) and the Emmy Award for Outstanding Children’s Program for He Makes Me Feel Like Dancin’ (1983). Moreover, Rudin has won multiple Golden Globes, Drama Desk Awards, Outer Critics Circle Awards, and Gotham Awards.
